Here is an example of my strictly verbal (no images) writing — a “definition argument” about the vexing term teach, in which I lay out what I mean by that verb. This essay was written for an assignment I gave my “Introduction to Writing Studies” class in spring 2016.

    thank you. I am working with a faculty member struggling with a member of her faculty, who in the name of “holding students to a high standard,” is making them sorry they ever decided to do a program here. Her responses to their writing is defeating them.
    I sent your essay to the faculty member in charge because you have so eloquently expressed what we wish all teachers regarded as their own definitions of teaching.
